New Angels sing in Nashville
Pictured are members of The New Angels of Alabama, a nationally recognized gospel singing group. Most of the members are residents of Barbour County and the surrounding area.
The New Angels of Alabama recently performed at the B.B. King Showcase in Nashville.
This gospel group consists of six musicians and two managers, all from the Barbour County area, including Eddie Blackshire of Eufaula, James Spann of Abbeville, Luther Young of Eufaula, Bryant Thompkins of Louisville, Edwood Fountain of Baker Hill, Jenny Copeland of Blakely, Ga., Assistant Manager Merlin George of Abbeville and Manager Waymon Harris of Eufaula.
Most of the members have known each other their lives, growing up in the Barbour County area.
In 2007, they went into rehearsal for a year and released their first album in 2008.
Now they are a nationally recognized group, making Christian country magazine Power Source’s top 100 list in June with their song, “I’ll Fly Away.”
