Cassandra Nell Rhodes and Walter John Smola, II, were married Saturday, Dec. 13, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Homewood.
The bride is the daughter of Thomas Joseph Rhodes of Littleton, Colo., and Rebecca Whorton Rhodes, of Rainbow City. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mr. Robert Lee Smola, Sr., of Eufaula.
Dr. Andrew R. Wolfe and the Rev. Timothy Tatum officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Debbie Holmes, organist, Dr. Leonard Candelaria, trumpeter and Miss Stephanie Long, vocalist. The scriptures were read by Miss Katie Cole, Eufaula, and Ms. Rita Collier, the bride’s aunt.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was attended by her two cousins, Catherine Collier Garrison, of Raleigh, N.C., and Christin Collier Hurt, of New Orleans, as matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Kathryn Elizabeth Awalt, Mobile; Elizabeth Louise Osborne, Carrolton, Ga.; Paty Reynolds Pruet, Enterprise; Kathryn Reynolds Wallace, Birmingham; and Stacy Nicole Whorton, cousin of the bride, Fernandina Beach, Fla. The flower girl was Eleanor Elizabeth Bryant, godchild of the groom and daughter of Zachery and Ruth Bryant, College Station, Texas.
The groom’s father served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Zachery Earl Bryant, College Station, Texas; Robert Alanson Lockwood, Mobile; Samuel John Rhodes, brother of the bride, Littleton, Colo.; and brothers of the groom, Robert Lee Smola, Jr., and Christopher Carl Smola, both of Auburn.
An after-rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents at Cobb Lane Restaurant in Birmingham. The wedding reception was held at Gabrella Manor.
Following the wedding, the couple honeymooned in Greece, and now resides in Birmingham.
