Richard tapped ‘Rising Star’

Ten-year-old Katelyn Richard was recently tapped Little Miss Auburn/Opelika Area Rising Star.
This honor will allow her to travel to Birmingham in June to meet Miss Alabama contestants. While there, Katelyn will take part in a mentoring program, “Alabama’s Rising Star”, during which she spends the day with Miss Alabama contestant Jessica Brookeshire. Brookeshire is a student at Auburn University.
Katelyn will perform an opening number during a preliminary night of the Miss Alabama competition. Girls participating in the Rising Star program will also get to have lunch with Miss Alabama contestants.
Katelyn will also be sponsoring a “Miss Lee County” pageant May 6, in Auburn at the Lee County Elks Club.

Congratulations Katelyn, you deserve it! You are a wonderful young lady. Our family got to know you through Relay for Life. You were patient and encouraging to my very shy, young daughter. You are a good role model to young girls in the community and that is something we need.
