Plaintiff McCloud arrested on drug charges

Ray Charles McCloud, a plaintiff in a lawsuit against the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department and Chief Deputy Ronnie Benefield, was arrested Thursday by the Eufaula Police Department.

McCloud, 29, was arrested at a T.V. McCoo Boulevard residence for outstanding Dothan warrants. The charges are for possession of marijuana first degree and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Police were able to apprehend McCloud, whose address was listed as 23 S. Keen St. in Clayton, after receiving information that he was spotted outside an apartment on T.V. McCoo Boulevard. Officers found him hiding in the bathroom of one of the apartments. While being placed under arrest, officers also found a bag of marijuana and some money in his pocket.
