Darlings sweep four games

The Eufaula Dixie Darlings All Star team swept four games Saturday in the All-Star warm-up Tournament at the Troy Sportsplex.

The tournament included Eufaula, Ozark, Zion Chapel, Troy, Geneva and Enterprise. It was a single elimination tournament though the first game was for seeding.

Eufaula started the tournament at 10 a.m. by edging Geneva 24-22 in one of the day’s most exciting games. The local Darlings followed with another close win at 1 p.m. - this time a 13-10 win against Enterprise.

At 4 p.m. Eufaula won a winner’s bracket game against Geneva. The final score was 19-12.

Eufaula played the host team Troy in the championship round and won easily, 29-9. Eufaula played well all day despite battling 100-degree temperatures.

Players include: Jodie Spivey, Sydney Williams, Annie Laura Clayton, Maggie Caldwell, Morgan Grant, Macy Crawford, Susanne Hudspeth, Savanna Wood, Marlee Caldwell, Julianna Dunn, Kirstyn Wiggins and Emily Dunn.

Coaches include Brian Wood, Phil Clayton, Mike Caldwell and Scott Hudspeth.
