Eufaula players shine in tournament
Tyler Crouch went 7-for-12 last weekend in the Wooden Bat Classic.
Rain, lightning and a power outage led the postponement of the Wooden Bat Classic championship game.
But the real excitement came Saturday and early Sunday when several dozen baseball players showed off at Old Creek Town Park. And three Eufaula players were among the most effective - particularly at the plate.
Tyler Crouch, Dakota Maldonado and Bryan Bratcher all had big weekends. Maldonado went 7-for-9. Crouch went 7-for-12 and Bratcher went 4-for-10. They played for the East squad which went 1-2 in the tournament. The South and North teams split the championship due to the inclement weather.
Eufaula Parks and Recreation Director Keef Pettis was pleased with the success of the first wooden bat tournament in recent history at Old Creek Town.
“The people who came loved Eufaula,” he said.
