The Faith in Action-Community Development Coalition recently opened in Eufaula.
The coalition takes a holistic approach to promote healthier families from a Christian model perspective, focusing heavily on facts, says chief administrator Gwen Crawford-Taylor.
“When the unthinkable happens to an individual and causes them to feel some form of crisis, not knowing what to do, FIA-CDC will be available to provide a helping hand and the proper resources,” Taylor wrote in a news release.
The CDC has trained staff members who have all relocated to Eufaula from all over the country as well as several others who are scheduled to come on board in the near future.
“Our mission is to increase and heighten social and economic justice,” wrote Taylor. FIA-CDC is a 501 c(3) not-for-profit, faith-based organization designed to connect and usher other organization and businesses to collaborate and identify resources for the “betterment of community with strong stable support.”
Taylor is a native of Eufaula and Barbour County. She attended Kean University in Union, N.J. where she studied social work. She studied divinity at New Brunswick School of Theology. She earned an associate’s degree in public policy and a bachelor’s degree in urban studies, “RR”. She also studied divinity at Anderson School of Theology in Indiana and is a graduate of the first leadership class of Barbour County.
“What we need now is our community to embrace our venture, get the information out to those who will need these services and refer families to us,” said Taylor. “We also need financial support, as we are housed in a beautiful facility which is a monthly rental, and we also have the utility expenses, all to total $2,000. Currently our staff are volunteers.”

No appointment is necessary. The FIA-CDC will also house a food court, Believer’s Diner, that will be available during open hours.
