Worshippers celebrate God, country

America isn’t perfect, but it is the greatest nation in the world.

That was the message Dr. David Ware and Pastor Ken Jackson offered at Sunday’s Eufaula-Georgetown Community Patriotic Service, held at First Assembly of God. Their brief statements about America preceded the message from First A/G pastor Doug Dierdorf.

“I’ve been to a few places around the world, and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else,” Dr. Ware, the pastor of Narrow Way Christian Fellowship, said as he greeted the several dozen worshippers in attendance.

Dierdorf referenced the Declaration if Independence, a 1963 speech from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the 1774 First Prayer of the Continental Congress by the Rev. Jacob Duché in exhorting worshippers to share their faith with others. He said that since Americans and Christians have been “freed from” something, they are now “free to” serve and share.
