The bride was stunning in a strapless fitted gown of lace over silk taffeta. The lace was richly embellished with seed pearls and iridescents. The closely fitted skirt flared to the back above the hemline, creating a full flounce train. A multi-strand pearl choker complimented the elegant gown and the cathedral veil of silk illusion. She carried a cascading bouquet of white orchids, mini calla lilies and freesia.
Following the wedding ceremony the bride’s parents entertained with a beautiful reception in the Ballroom of the Piedmont Driving Club. Rows of graceful Corinthian columns line two sides of the room, and delicate plaster molding decorates the frieze above the columns. Guests dined on canapés, fried chicken tenderloin, party sandwiches, roast beef and rolls, fruit and cheese and assorted hors d’oeuvres served from stations along the sides and a long buffet table in the center. At one end of the room a band played for dancing. The tiered white bride’s cake was served from a smaller reception room to the side.
After-rehearsal dinner
On Friday night before the wedding, Ben and Charlotte Reeves entertained more than 200 people with a lavish after-rehearsal dinner at the historic Capital City Club in downtown Atlanta.
The handsome building housing the club dates back more than 100 years, and its classic interior was the perfect setting for a memorable evening. Steps leading up to the second floor were lined with large votive candles in clear glass holders. At the entrance and on the landing, magnificent arrangements of white peonies and white roses cascaded from containers on wrought iron pedestals.
During the pre-dinner cocktail hour the club’s wait staff passed a tempting variety of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres. In the large dining room, classical architectural features provided an elegant backdrop for the festive night. Graceful sprays of Southern smilax accented the molding all the way around the room. Tables were decorated with alternating tall and low arrangements of white peonies, white roses and greenery and candles.
Guests dined on a first course of shrimp and grits soup, followed by a salad course. Delectable filet mignon, sweet potato soufflé, asparagus and dinner rolls made up the main course, followed by a choice of chocolate groom’s cake or cheesecake for dessert. Appropriate wines were served throughout the evening, while friends of the bride and groom offered toasts that entertained the guests throughout the dinner hour.
After dinner, the party moved downstairs for dancing and watching a humorous video created by one of Adam’s friends.
