Miss Benavides, Mr. Osmer plan May 30 wedding

Dr. and Mrs. Hernán Guillermo Benavides of Eufaula announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Cecilia Benavides, to Steven Blair Osmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Joe Osmer of Gurley.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter Dr. and Mrs. Willard Smith of Eufaula and Mrs. Guillermo Benavides and the late Dr. Benavides of Bogota, Colombia.

Miss Benavides is a 2000 graduate of The Lakeside School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and received a bachelor’s degree in biology. She is currently attending the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Optometry and is scheduled to receive her doctor of optometry degree in May.

She plans to return home to Eufaula to join her father in the private practice of optometry at Eufaula Eye Associates.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Ethel Brakefield Sallin of Huntsville and the late Mr. George Bernard Brakefield and Mr. and Mrs. Billie Joe Osmer of Gurley.

Mr. Osmer is a 2000 graduate of Madison County High School and a 2005 graduate of the University of Alabama-Huntsville where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He is employed at American Buildings Corporation in Eufaula.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, May 30, at 5:30 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. A reception will follow at the Shorter Mansion.
