A 79-year-old Eufaula man was assaulted with baseball bats during a home invasion robbery that occurred last Monday.
Three people have been arrested and charged with crimes connected to the robbery.
Brittany Williams, 22, of 102 Jackson St. was arrested last week and charged with robbery first degree and burglary first degree. Also arrested on Friday were Bernard Jenkins, 21, of 100 Nancy Ross Drive and Jack Earl Johnson, 28, of 10857 Hwy. 95 North in Abbeville. Both will be charged with robbery first degree and burglary first degree.
All charges are considered Class A felony offenses, said Sgt. Larry Hubbard of the Eufaula Police Department.
The victim stated that Williams, who he is familiar with, came to his house and asked for a cigarette and to use the phone. After using the phone, she went to the door and unlocked it to let two other suspects, allegedly Johnson and Jenkins, into the house.
The two men carried baseball bats and struck the victim several times in the head causing a severe laceration and bleeding to the man’s head.
They stole the victim’s wallet and $540 in cash before fleeing the residence. The victim was admitted to Medical Center Barbour but has reportedly been released since then.
Hubbard said the case has been closed following the arrests of Williams, Jenkins and Johnson.
Jenkins was also charged with possession of marijuana second degree and criminal trespassing third degree.
