Barbour County deputies fear a missing Clio man could be the victim of foul play.
Willie David Pugh, 27, of Clio went missing Saturday at approximately 7:15 p.m. He was last seen on Highway 51 South between Clio and Ariton. According to a press release from the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff LeRoy Upshaw said that the investigation “points to foul play in Mr. Pugh’s disappearance.”
Pugh’s vehicle was located near Ariton behind an abandoned residence. Sheriff Walley Olson and the Dale County Sheriff's Office are providing air support, and tracking dogs from Ventress Correctional Facility are also being used.
Lt. David Morris, who is in charge of the investigation, said that a ground and air search was conducted until nightfall Sunday and resumed Monday morning. One person has been taken into custody for questioning and another is being sought at this time.
Those who may have seen Mr. Pugh or his vehicle, a blue 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, are asked to contact the Barbour County Sheriff's Office at (334) 775-3434.
