A trailer in the Doster area of south Barbour County caught fire Wednesday night.
The trailer is the residence of the suspect in the Willie David Pugh case, states Chief Richard Johnson of the Clio Police Department.
According to a press release by the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department, the body of a black male believed to be Pugh was found on Sutton Dairy Road near the Doster community before nightfall Tuesday. Pugh went missing Saturday, Jan. 14, on Highway 51 South between Clio and Ariton.
Johnson says the trailer, which belongs to the suspect’s mother, wasn’t consumed, but sustained some damage. He says the fire caused no injuries to his knowledge and that the fire is under investigation. Johnson does not know if foul play played a part in the fire.
Lt. David Morris, lead investigator in the Pugh case, stated in a release that the scene where the body was located was processed and the body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy Wednesday.
