Raequan Kelley pitched a one-hitter Saturday against Troy American.
Jason Fleming of the Troy American All Stars pitched well enough to win Saturday against Eufaula.
But unfortunately for Fleming and his team, Raequan Kelley pitched a little better. Kelley struck out 13 and allowed just one hit in six innings as Eufaula edged Troy American 3-1 in the O-Zone 12-year-olds district tournament. The game was played before a large crowd at Old Creek Town Park.
Eufaula advanced to a winner’s bracket game Monday against Enterprise American. Results of Monday’s game were not known as of press deadline.
Eufaula’s good fortunes were the result of a brief offensive flurry in the fourth inning and Kelley’s near-flawless performance on the mound.
The local All Stars scored three runs in a five-pitch span during the fourth to break what had been a scoreless tie. All three runs came with two outs.
